Though Drake and Rihanna have both denied rumors that they were dating last year, it seems their "just friends" relationship was deep enough to cause Drake some pain. In his recent profile in the New York Times, the "Miss Me" MC reveals that in their momentary fling, Rihanna beat him at his own hustle.

"I was a pawn," he said. "You know what she was doing to me? She was doing exactly what I've done to so many women throughout my life, which is show them quality time, then disappear. I was like, 'Wow, this feels terrible.'"

It seems, however, that heartbreak is no stranger to the former actor. He continues on to explain that much of the material that later formed his breakout mixtape, So Far Gone, was inspired by a nasty breakup.

"I don't even know if I wrote a rap song in that whole nine months," he adds. "Because I wasn't a rapper anymore. I didn't believe in myself. I was someone else's property."

Drake's debut album, Thank Me Later, hits stores on June 15.
