With the support of her very own record label, Divas Records, and additional backing from Toasting Music/Universal, the highly respected Grammy winner, Lady Saw, will roll out her latest album, My Way, on September 7.
My Way, the artiste declares, is more than just an album. It is a proclamation of intent, a decision and a reality.
It heralds Lady Saw’s newfound independence, having severed ties with reggae label VP Records after her 2007 album, Walk Out, followed swiftly by her decision to launch Divas Records. My Way represents the dancehall pioneer at the height of her creativity as she spits out collabs with local and international artistes and takes the reigns as producer on a number of the tracks.

Lady GaGa took over "The Today Show" and most of midtown this morning since thousands of fans swarmed Rockefeller Plaza to watch the legend in the making perform a three song set in a bedazzled bra and matching bumblebee bee glasses. Must've come as a set.
She kicked things off with "Someone To Watch Over Me" before segueing into "Bad Romance." Then she introduced the (non YouTube searching) world to her newest song, "You And I," which will be featured on an upcoming CD. She capped off her Summer Concert Series debut by singing "Alejandro" and my favorite non-single, "Teeth." And unlike many of today's biggest artists, when I say "singing" I mean it.

Janet Jackson enthralled the Essence Music Festival audience Friday, kept them on their feet for more than two hours and reminded fans why seeing her in concert was worth waiting two years.
From the opening notes of The Pleasure Principle to Control to Rhythm Nation, the Grammy Award-winning singer enticed, teased and brought her fans on a journey through her number-one hits.
"She was unbelievable," said Ed Downs of Miami. "It was definitely worth the wait. I'm happy to see her make a comeback. It was impressive."
Jackson marked her return by closing the festival's first night inside the Louisiana Superdome in New Orleans. It was her first time at the festival, which ran until Sunday.
Former NBA player Anferenee Hardaway called Jackson's performance absolutely perfect, and said no one could tell she had been off the concert circuit for any length of time.
"She definitely gets better with age," he said, smiling.

“Reggae music was born in Jamaica and Reggae Sumfest is the most celebrated and supported Reggae festival on the island, attracting the world’s leading musicians and performers,” said John Lynch, Jamaica’s Director of Tourism. “Over the last 18 years, Reggae Sumfest has showcased an excellent entertainment package, loaded with great performances, delicious food, lively music and a unique cultural experience shared on the world stage by both Jamaicans and international visitors alike”.

Several residents of Waterford believe that entertainer Vybz Kartel will come out of his current situation unscathed after the deejay handed himself over to the police yesterday.
Vybz Kartel handed himself over to the Portmore police at approximately 10 a.m. in the presence of his lawyer Tom Tavares-Finson.
Kartel, whose real name is Adidja Palmer, was listed as a person of interest on Tuesday by the Jamaica Constabulary Force and was expected to turn himself in on Wednesday.
"They are just fighting against the artiste. Him a good boy, dem cannot stop him. A his trial dat, him will survive," a Waterford resident said.
"If he had turn himself in earlier then it would work out better for him. Now we can only hope things work for the best, " Marva Munroe said.

‘You’ll never see me in flip-flops and a T-shirt,” Lady Gaga once declared. Talk about an understatement! Never content to simply throw on a Marc Jacobs dress and call it a night, every public appearance that Lady Gaga makes — whether she’s performing onstage, as she’ll do this week at MSG, or simply walking down the street — requires a meticulously composed high-concept look.
Case in point: The see-through plastic dress and lobster headpiece she wore to dinner at Mr. Chow in London last February.
And when she performs in NYC tomorrow, Wednesday and Friday, concertgoers will be able to see a few new elaborate concoctions in person.
“I think so much of [what she wears] is smart because it’s referring to another period,” says Martin Pakledinaz, a Broadway costume designer whose designs are currently seen in “Lend Me a Tenor.”
