

Five-time Grammy award recipient Ziggy Marley can now add another accolade to his long list of achievements. The international reggae singer on Sunday won an Emmy Award for his song ‘I Love You Too’ which is featured on the British animation ‘3rd and Bird.’
The show is aired on Disney Junior in the U.S His award was announced before the Daytime Emmy Awards main show which took place on Sunday night.
Ziggy is the former lead singer of Ziggy Marley and The Melody Makers, he expressed his shock to the Jamaica Observer when he heard he had won an award as he said he did not know he had even been nominated. He said, “When somebody mentioned to me that I won an Emmy, I was like ‘What’s that?’. It’s not like the Grammys when you know you are nominated and there is a lot of buzz around that… so I never expected it, but it feels good.”
The award winning track was recorded after Marley was reportedly contacted by a representative from ‘3rd and Bird’ after he released his children album ‘Family Time’ in 2009. Ziggy and his siblings have previously appeared on prominent American children shows ‘Sesame Street’ Ziggy was also featured as a voice on children’s program ‘Shark Tale.’
Other Jamaican Emmy award winner include TVJ’s one hour series ‘Impact’ for its review of the infamous Washington DC sniper case involving Lee Boyd Malvo.
